Caring for Your End Grain Cutting Board

People frequently wonder how to care for their investment and we are here to help. Here are some tips on caring for your end grain cutting board. 

• Keep your cutting board clean by washing it with warm soapy water after use and then drying it. Let the board air dry completely before storing. If your board came with rubber feet, simply set it on the feet to dry. The feet provide the space for necessary air movement to prevent warping. If your board does not have feet, simply place it on edge to dry. Always store your board inside and in a controlled environment. 

• At a minimum of once a month, more frequently if it starts looking dry, apply a coat of food grade mineral oil & let it soak in. Keep applying coats until it no longer soaks into the wood.

• After applying the mineral oil per the instructions above, wipe up any excess oil & apply FM Board Butter. Let that sit overnight before wiping off with a soft cloth.
